This is a real Reuters headline: “North Korea threatens nuclear test over U.N. sanctions.” Sure. Next we’ll read: “Iran vows Israel’s destruction over IAEA queries.” The dynamic relationship between international bodies and rogue regimes has been entirely inverted, even as the U.S. speaks ever more hopefully about the need to address challenges through such organizations.

“Unless the U.N. Security Council immediately apologizes, we will have no choice but to take inevitable additional self defense measures to protect the Republic’s highest interest,” a North Korean spokesman said. So, will the Obama administration get busy bowing down? After all, it doesn’t want to create its own record of needless arrogance and global provocation. Maybe we shouldn’t have gone to the Security Council and pushed for sanctions. Yeah, that’s it. I’m sure we just failed to adequately “listen” to Pyongyang.
