If there’s one economic issue Mitt Romney is perceived to have credibility on, it’s job creation. And he makes the most of this in a powerful new ad out today. You can view it on YouTube here.

It begins with some statistics: “Millions have lost their jobs under President Obama.” “June 3, 2011 Unemployment Hit 9.1%.” Then there’s a voiceover of Obama saying, “There are always gonna be bumps on the road to recovery.” The camera pans to a dusty desert road strewn with fallen people. One by one they stand up, holding signs about their unemployment situation, and speak directly into the camera: “I’m an American, not a bump in the road.”

The ad is a memorable one, and it highlights Obama’s weakness on unemployment. The White House will have a tough time fighting the impression Obama hasn’t focused enough on jobs, especially since many of his own supporters are attacking him on the issue.
