To the Editor:
As a subscriber to Commentary, I was surprised and delighted by Terry Teachout’s sympathetic appraisal of my late husband, the violinist Louis Kaufman, and I deeply appreciated Mr. Teachout’s engrossing review of his memoir, A Fiddler’s Tale [“Fiddlers Three,” April]. Mr. Teachout expresses his ideas with Mozartean grace.
Louis had a happy attitude in the 62 years we shared. He truly enjoyed fine achievement in music, art, books, and theater, and I learned from him to express thanks, for one often regrets not having done so.
