To the Editor:
Chemjo Vinaver’s article on the tour of the Israel Symphony Orchestra in the May issue expressed the sentiments of many thousands of Jewish music lovers throughout the country. . . . I and many others in Chicago tried to get at least one major Jewish composition on the two programs. But all protests were of no avail and Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky it had to be. Finally, Leonard Bernstein made a little speech and said that he had received many requests for Jewish music and gave us an encore of a few minutes. . . .
