To the Editor:

Please let me express my admiration for Herbert Weiner’s article on “The Lubovitcher Movement: I” in the March edition of COMMENTARY. . . . Its fairness, the attempt to understand and depict rather than misinterpret and distort is admirable. An organization which at first glance might be termed anachronistic or fanatic is described in an intelligent, probing manner rather than in the usual intolerant, prejudiced fashion. We too often term fanatics those who are but one inch to the right of us. May I add that recognition of the Lubovitcher movement’s selflessness and devotion to Jewish tradition is a truism; especially so for one, like myself, brought up in one of their American “missionary” schools.
