Making the rounds on this morning’s TV talk shows, Joe Biden, after the obligatory false statements about how nervous he is to debate Sarah Palin, said something like this: “As I listen to that speech, I hear nothing about the cost of college tuition.”
Well, here is how Joe Biden tackled that topic in his convention speech: “That’s why [Barak Obama] will invest in the next generation of teachers and why he’ll make college more affordable.” Then here is what Obama said: “If you commit to serving your community or our country, we will make sure you can afford a college education.”
Last week, the media was gushing about the “specifics” that Obama and Biden offered in their convention speeches. While the GOP convention has been light on domestic policy, the truth is the Democrats did little more than offer hackneyed, focus-grouped lines about college costs, health care, gas prices, and the economy. The Republicans need to start calling them on this.
