Good news: “U.S.-led forces arrested 25 people during operations against Al Qaeda in Iraq this weekend, the American military said Sunday. Homicide bombers struck police targets in northern Iraq, killing five people and injuring dozens in the latest sign that extremists, though weakened, are still capable of devastating attacks.” Perhaps Sarah Palin knew precisely what she was talking about in praising our troops heading to Iraq to battle against Al Qaeda.

And the speech she intended to give at the rally in New York today is reprinted here. People upset about her disinvitation are starting to speak up.

Here are some pretty convincing reasons to blame government for the mess we are in.

Maureen Dowd gives her column over to Aaron Sorkin and convinces me Jed Bartlett would be a better candidate (and certainly President) than Barack Obama. Come to think of it, would Sorkin would be a better columnist? (By the way, who knew you could subcontract out your columns?)

It is clear that John McCain wants to make the financial crisis about “leadership.” If Barack Obama ever moved decisively or answered a pending issue first ( “yeah” or “nay” on the AIG takeover?) Obama might diffuse this. But he doesn’t — which is why McCain persists.

Hispanic Hillary Clinton staffers jump to the McCain camp–and are angry about that Obama immigration ad.

And Obama’s opposition to approving the Paulson plan as is seems odd in light of the fact he wants Hank Paulson to stay on for some extended time if Obama wins the election. Sort of like Robert Gates, who implemented the surge which Obama opposed, being considered as an Obama Defense Secretary. Does Obama not really believe his own positions or don’t he and his supporters realize that these men hold views contrary to his?

When you read this stuff  about voting fraud you wonder what the Justice Department is up to. Unfortunately, it is not preventing fraud.

Whether it is  25,000 or 60,000, that’s a lot of people to turn out in Florida for a Palin rally. Meanwhile Florida state speaker Marco Rubio slams Barack Obama for his immigration ad trying to tie McCain to Rush Limbaugh.

As in Georgia, the Obama team pulls out of North Dakota. The electoral map is starting to look a whole lot like 2000 or 2004.

The Democrat who replaced disgraced Florida Congressman Mark Foley has at least a residency problem — and maybe bigger issues. Do you think voters are getting the idea that the Democrats are no improvement over the Republicans? Seems so.

Are we post-racial yet? An entirely unscientific poll of 19,000 plus people suggests they’ve had enough.
