Suddenly there’s a lot of talk about making Kay Bailey Hutchison, the senator from Texas, the vice-presidential nominee. Is it conceivable that the McCain people believe women who might have voted for Hillary and are now upset that she isn’t the nominee will be inspired to vote for McCain by the presence of a woman on the Republican ticket? She is a good politician, but she is an extremely uninspiring speaker, talker, and debater. And Democrats would be sure to make hay out of the fact that she has been voted the second meanest senator on Capitol Hill.
