Nate Silver is one of those very interesting New Media stories, an amateur number-cruncher who began a smart, Left-leaning polling blog called FiveThirtyEight.com and is now writing for the New Republic’s website. I’d advise Silver to stick to the number-crunching, though, because really, nobody is helped by efforts to slice and dice American demographics in this manner:

I think Palin’s speech will be instinctively unappealing to other whole demographics of voters, including particuarly [sic] …professional post-menopausal women.

“Professional post-menopausal women”? Why doesn’t he just go the whole way and call them “Hormone Replacement Moms”?
