Herold Meyerson uses the interview in which Sarah Palin was seen with the Israeli flag in the background and her affinity with the Alaska Independence Party to jokingly (I hope he means it as a joke) make this irresistible connection:
[I]s it possible that Palin, in her heart of hearts, believes that Alaska should leave the United States and append itself to Israel? The notion is not that far from the premise of Michael Chabon’s novel last year, The Yiddish Policemen’s Union, in which the Jews of Eastern Europe escape Hitler when the United States permits them to relocate to Juneau, where they dub themselves “the Frozen Chosen.”
